Stella and Luke had fun playing ball on the couch. Stella got the sunny end.

The Older Side of the Family

Luke, Bridget and I discovered that getting relatively decent self-portraits are much easier with my new camera than with my old. All I have to do is switch to Live View, flip out the LCD screen, press the button on the remote, and smile.

Saving It

I still have the outfit I wore 19 years ago today.

This is Winter

The creek down the road is frozen and snow covers the landscape ... for a few days, at least.

Barely Braving the Cold

The thermometer in Dennis's car read 21 degrees, but with the wind chill near Cobbosseecontee Stream, it had to have been closer to zero. Bridget and I drove by this lovely body of water yesterday, on the way to the butcher shop to pick up the smoked parts of the half pig we recently bought. Today, I knew I had to return with the camera. Dennis accompanied me, and he was amused by how quickly I was clicking off the shots. I wanted good photos, but even more, I wanted to get back to the warmth of the car.

Clearing the Air

Last night, I cleaned/decluttered my studio. It's like I can think now.

At Home in his Home Office

Here's the man, where he lives. As you can tell by the doll on the couch, the kids also feel right at home in his office.

The subtitle for this week's version of Thursdays could be "Duos." You get a shot of Stella and Jack and a shot of Stella and me.

A Good Day for Bubbles

On more than one occasion, my mother-in-law has suggested getting outside and blowing bubbles when the temperature gets below zero, because the bubbles freeze. The problem is, that when the temperature gets below zero, it's hard to get myself outside. Stella, Henry, and I did it today, though (and all the boys sledded and snowboarded again for at least an hour). Stella was not dressed warmly enough in her pink coat and didn't stay outside long, but she insists on putting fashion first. I was, however, very pleased that she finally wore the gorgeous beaded beret Bridget knit. By the way, Luke just reported that the temperature (at 9:30 pm) is 17 below.

Worth the Effort

This evening, Jack was the last one out the door, and I was afraid that his brothers would end their sledding/snowboarding runs before Jack got a chance to join the fun. It was bitterly cold today (and is supposed to be colder tomorrow), but the boys spent nearly an hour out in the dark. All the work of bundling up was worth it for Jack. He had a great time. By the by, my sister wore that hat each winter for years when we were growing up. Mine was green.

The Start of Something

This evening, after getting inspired by a project in a magazine, I started a creative endeavor of my own. To learn more, please click here.

Beautiful Blue

Shortly before dusk, I peeked outside and noticed a beauty of a sky, so I added the polarizing filter to my lens and took a few shots.

Pencil and Paper

This evening, I photographed one of Bridget's latest drawings for today's post at Call and Response. Her work is so good, I had to share it here, too.

A Nice Day

Today is my birthday. Dennis and the kids made sure I had a nice day, with time to myself, a delicious cake baked by Luke and frosted by Bridget, a yummy dinner prepared by Dennis, and thoughtful gifts from everyone.

My little imp and I got in a good workout this evening. Stella would run into the living room from the foyer, and I'd aim the camera at her from one of the kitchen doorways. Then, she'd scream and run into the foyer. I'd switch directions and aim the camera at her from the other doorway in the kitchen. We must have been at it for 20 minutes. Once in awhile, to change things up, she'd run into my studio or the unfinished powder room, and I'd be close behind.

He's Twelve

My sweet, sweet Henry turned 12 today. (He no longer fits in any of my baskets.)
