At It Again

Late last night, Bridget and I were at the kitchen table, reading/studying, when Jack came downstairs and proudly showed me the slime he had put in his hair.  Thankfully, the green concoction that Sam or Henry had made at summer rec. came off of his head rather easily.  Once I had extricated the blob, I invited Jack to check the results in the mirror.  Apparently, he was quite pleased with what he saw.

Gunning It

Grandpa helped Henry make a rifle last weekend.  Perhaps this weekend, we'll find time to paint it, although it's getting plenty of use as-is.

I'm not sure how long I'll keep up the Thursdays posts, but for now ...  Here's 53-week-old Stella with her favorite birthday gift.

Happy First Birthday Stella!

Stella enjoyed the cream cheese frosting on her cake — the cake, not so much.  She was very happy throughout the small celebration last night, even when it came time to clean up.  Little Miss Muffet (as I like to call her; it's a name my mom always called me) has filled the past year with wonder, love, and a lot of joy.

Stella is 52 weeks old today, and tomorrow is her first birthday.  Since we'll be in visiting friends and family in Massachusetts tomorrow, we're planning to celebrate this evening.  Of course, that doesn't give me much time to bake a cake and wrap gifts.  As you can see from the photos, Stella got some helium-filled balloons in anticipation of tonight's soiree.  She thinks they're fun.

Back Talk

I can't remember what Jack was saying to me, but it looks like he's giving what-for.

Scenes from Yesterday

My Goddaughter, Sydney, graduated from high school yesterday.  We visited with her and her family for a celebratory brunch.  I've known Sydney's mom, Anne (and Anne's parents, siblings, nephew) since third grade.  Being with this lovely family was a great way to spend time on a Sunday.

Boys Against Girls

Bridget's softball team was supposed to have a game last night, but the opposing team didn't show.  One of the boys' baseball teams was supposed to have a game last night, but the opposing team didn't show.  So, they made lemonade with the lemons they were given (so to speak).  When the boys' team was up, they had to hit a softball pitched underhand.  When the girls were up, they had to hit a softball pitched overhand.  The boys won.

The refrigerator is a jumbled mess, like the rest of the house.  Bah!

At 51 weeks, Stella is a baby on the move.  I had to chase her around and strap her in to get shots of her today.

Stella Stands

The wee one loves to pull herself up and stand.  She sometimes even lets go.

An Accomplishment

On Friday, Luke played 18 holes and shot a 78.   I thought that was worth writing about.

Pins and Needles

Up until the end of February, this pincushion hung on the pantry door at home.  Long ago, long ago, Mom decided that it was the perfect spot.  Now, I have to find a home for it here.  I have an idea or two.

My Other Daughter

Bridget sat for an impromptu portrait session.  This is my favorite shot.

50-week-old Stella thinks the couch we inherited from Nana and Grampy makes for good training ground in the quest to walk.
