Dennis got a few shots of 80-week-old Stella this evening.  She was dancing to songs playing on her toy camera.

This evening, my very independent 79-week-old noticed undecorated cookies, a bowl of frosting and a bottle of sanding sugar on the kitchen counter.  Without consulting anyone, Stella slid a kitchen stool to the counter, climbed on said stool, opened the bottle of sugar and dumped it onto the plate of cookies.  From there, she just played, and tasted, and played, and tasted some more.
PS:  Stella had her 18-month checkup yesterday.  She weighs 23 pounds (putting her in the 40th percentile) and is 33 inches tall (putting her in the 90th percentile for height).

Yum, Cookies

If any of you are curious about that cookie in the spotlight in yesterday's post, it is a Coconut Cherry Confection (that's the name I came up with, anyway) that I baked up on Saturday.  Bridget found the recipe on a knitting blog last year.  This is it.

Doodling with Light

Yesterday, we put up the tree and added the lights.  That's as far as we got.  Ornaments will go on today.  We might have made better progress if I hadn't decided to play:  stuffing a string of lights into crystal vases and breaking out the camera and tripod.  Oh well, it was worth it.

Stella hits 78 weeks today.  She's got a bit of a cold, so her mood is up and down.  With the cape on, she was up, but not ... "and away."

OK, it's 77 weeks for Little Miss Stella, and she's decided (or her brother Luke has decided) that she needs to take up golf.  One of her favorite activities is to go to the basement with any of her brothers (maybe not Jack) and putt or chip.  I've even been known to pick up a putter and join them.

Little Chef

On Sunday, Stella and I baked cookies.  My little sous chef looked more helpful than she actually was.  The Peanut Butter Blossoms turned out yummy anyway.

A Visit from Saint Nicholas

We lined up our shoes by the front door last night, and this morning — the feast day of Saint Nicholas — we found them filled with chocolates.  A small gift for each of us was left near the shoes: a book for Dennis, beads for me, a Mentos geyser tube for Luke, an origami fashions kit for Bridget, wooden dirks for Henry and Sam, a jigsaw puzzle for Jack, and a ball and cat on wheels for Stella.  It's a sweet, snowy morning.

Come Along Down

Part of my Thanksgiving Day was spent watching Dennis and his father take down the very tall, very dead pine tree that has been standing in the middle of our backyard.  Dennis leaned the ladder against the tree and wrapped a cable around it.  He and his father attached the other end of the cable to a come-along winch (brought up from New Hampshire especially for the occasion) and another tree (that happened to be nowhere near the house).  My father-in-law went to work on the pine tree with the chain saw, Dennis ratcheted the come-along, and ... the tree came along down to the ground with a very loud BOOM.

The Wee One is 74 weeks old, and she is precocious.  Today, Stella decided that Daddy's socks would work well on her little feet, and she wore them around the house most of the morning.  Oh, and she's already kissing boys.
