Bottle Drive

Luke and I cruised one of the roads in town, stopping at houses to beg for bottles and cans for the high school baseball team. I brought the camera with me.

What Saves Us

Yesterday, when I read the poem, "What Saves Us" by Bruce Weigl, I was blown away. Luke modeled for me today, so I could use this profound piece for my Poetic Inspirations photo. Please read the work here, and stick with it to the end.

Getting Stella into the tub takes some cajoling, but once she's in there, she's happy.

Spring in New England

Last week the kids were playing outside in shorts. This week, it's hoodies or winter jackets, hats and gloves.

For the past two days, Henry, Sam and Jack have been engineering marble ramps and runs with everyday household items. It's fun to watch them.

Bridget and I love glitter, and Jack likes letting it slide through his fingers. Dennis, on the other hand, is not a fan.

The Way I Progress

I finished reading the introduction today, and finished the story itself about two days ago. When reading classic literature, I always save the introduction for last.

Stelly Bean still insists on being called a baby, but there's nothing baby-like about her. She's got all the personality in the world: carrying on great conversations ("Mom, who do you want to be: Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Darth Vader or Obi-Wan Kenobi?") giving directions ("Mom, you use aqua and draw a flower; I'll draw a flower with the purple marker"); taking my stuff and hiding it under the couch or dog bed ("You'll never, never, never find it!"); and walking into a room with aplomb ("Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much!")

On the way to the golf course today (where I'd write a check for the season's membership fee), Luke said, "I have the best parents in the world." It was the first day of spring and the first round of the season. He did quite well, scoring a 73.

A Small Splurge

Writing with a bad pen is unpleasant, and writing with black ink bores me. So today, I purchased three new pens in three new colors. Using them put a smile on my face.

Life Outdoors

It was a gorgeous day, and we all spent time outside. Dennis was especially productive: washing both cars (with a little help from Jack).

I bought Luke a green golf shirt today. He wore it to the driving range, where he garnered plenty of attention. This time, I don't think it was because of his swing.
