A Wet Day

This afternoon, I took a drive in the rain with the camera. The autumn colors are not at their finest, but I got some decent shots.

Crime and Punishment

I started reading Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment back in July, I think. I had three or four other books going simultaneously, and there were many nights when I just couldn't handle reading about Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, with his murderous thoughts, conflicting emotions, and possible descent into madness. In the past two weeks, though, my in-bed-before-going-to-sleep reading has been devoted to the Russian's gripping tale, and I finished it last night. There was so much to it, I imagine I'll be picking it up again sometime in the future. Now, it's on to Oliver Twist, so I'll be able to accurately evaluate the essay Bridget is writing on it.

Home Sweet Home

Our Pumpkin House feels right at home in the autumn.

Thursdays

In the first shot, Stella is placing her order for lunch. She's quite particular about what she will and will not eat. In the second shot, Stella is posing for the camera.

Passing the Time

I love my Luke. He and I found a way to pass the time as we waited for the bus to arrive and whisk him, his coach and teammates off to Rockland for a Shoot-out that would give the winning team a guaranteed spot in the state tournament. Unfortunately, Camden beat Maranacook by a stroke or two, so Maranacook will be playing in the qualifier next Tuesday.

Golf: A Family Affair

Yesterday's match was the last of the regular season for the golf team. Maranacook finished undefeated, as did Luke individually, who had 8 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie. The top six players will continue on to the state qualifying tournament, but the rest of the players, including Bridget, get no more practices at the country club. To commemorate the occasion, one of the team moms organized a picnic for this evening, and it was nice to spend time chatting with other folks on a lovely, sunny afternoon. Of  course, my boys couldn't leave the clubs alone for too long.

Light Through the Leaves

A few leaves have changed color, but it doesn't exactly look like autumn just yet.

A Panopoly of Patterns

Yes, it's Stella, playing in the rocks/dirt. Who else?

Appealing

The apples in the basket on the counter were getting old, so I peeled them, sliced them and threw together an apple crisp.

Thursdays

These are the photos I managed to snap while Stella stood relatively still. I tried for more, but she had that gleam in her eye and her little legs carried her all over the house.

Oil Lamp

With this crazy wind and rain, the power went out for about 30 minutes this evening. At first, Stella cried and asked everyone to turn on the lights. Soon enough, she was used to the dark, and became quite interested in the flashlights, candles and oil lamp.

Sam's Ninth Birthday

Our birthday celebrations are always low-key, but the kids don't seem to mind. They have a pretty good idea of how much they're loved each and every day.

In My Wanderings Outside Today

I generally try to head outside with the camera each day and see what's going on out there. Some days provide better fodder than others.

Thursdays

Stella has become quite the performer. Her Hello Kitty tutu attracted the attention of another customer at Rite-Aid today, and that woman asked Stella if she was a dancer. Of course, Stella said, "Yes," and proceeded to show off her skills. Her performance attracted a small crowd and got rave reviews. These are some of her moves, and those are Legos on Jack's eyes.
