Birthday Cake for Breakfast

Jack turned 5 years old yesterday. He opened his gifts before dinner (spaghetti and meatballs: his favorite), and I actually had the cake baked and frosted (with a Star Wars clone) in time to eat it after dinner. But ... at 10:30 pm, Dennis and I decided that it'd be better to eat the cake in the morning. Therefore, we ate birthday cake for breakfast, and it was a yummy treat.

Stella, Bridget and I spent two hours in the minivan this evening, after we had finally found the field where Henry's away game was being played. Although it had been a rare, warm and sunny day, by the time we arrived at our destination, the fog had rolled in and the temperature had dropped twenty degrees. Thankfully, Stella was quite content to play in the car and eat her snacks. Oh, those puffy eyes on my little sweetie come courtesy of the pollen that is coating everything with a lovely shade of yellow.

May is Our Mother's Month

With Mother's Day and a number of young gentlemen receiving the sacrament of First Holy Communion this month, I've been busy creating Rosaries. Here are five of the ones I've made in the last three or four weeks. Which one's your favorite?

Photos taken now and again.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

It's been raining for days. At least, the flowers are benefiting.

This is Jack

Isn't he a sweetie? He often tells me, "Mom, you're awesome. I love you." I get the warm fuzzies just thinking about it.

Once again, I have photos of Stella playing with the alphabet blocks. They have become some of her favorite toys. Now, after she builds a tower, she counts the blocks, something like, "eight, nine, seven."

Today is Friday

Yesterday, I had every intention of posting shots of Stella for her Thursdays post, but was unable to do so, as Blogger was down when I finally got to the computer. Therefore, I will get those photos up this evening.

Stella's vocabulary is growing faster than the beautiful tulips I planted last fall. The other night, I asked her if she wanted to put on her pajamas. She replied, "Yes," but quickly changed her mind, saying, "Acshe, no." (translation: "Actually, no.")

Since then, we've prompted her often: "Stella, say 'Actually, no."

"Acshe, yes."

"Actually, no."

"Acshe, yes," with a big smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye.

Scenes from Sam's Big Day

Yesterday, Sam received the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Dennis's dad was Sam's confirmation sponsor. It was a lovely Mass, although Jack and Stella did their best to ensure that Dennis and I got in our weekly workout: they wouldn't want us to waste our time just sitting in a pew.

Another week, another photo of Stella sleeping (stained shirt and all). My life is moving so fast now, I don't know if I'll ever catch up to it.
