Still Some Beauty There

The remnants of this tulip caught my eye today. I considered it for The Story of the Light, but chose this instead.

A Little Contest

Yesterday, Sam, Jack, and Stella filled some of the birthday balloons with water and froze them. Today, they had a little competition to see who could melt their ice balloons first. When Jack and Stella gave up, Sam declared himself the winner.

Guess who hit double digits today!
 Yup, it's Jack.

Partner in Crime

Bridget is joining me in my 365-day photography challenge, "The Story of the Light" (#storyoflight). She's posting her shots to Instagram. Dennis is playing along, too. His shots are up at Flickr. If anyone else wants to jump in, feel free to start at anytime and leave a comment letting me know where I can find your photos.

Beauty and the Beast

Dennis shined up Scarlet for me. She's the Beast; his Mercedes is Beauty.

Window Seat

There he sits. I wonder what he's thinking about. Probably the Broncos.

The Putt

The weather has been beautiful, and Sam and Henry have spent many hours tossing discs into that cage. Unfortunately, Sam missed this putt.

Story Time

I wonder if Stella's audience liked the book she was reading. I did. It was Birthday Monsters by Sandra Boynton, which has a good plot and unexpected ending.

Time to Pick Up the Camera Again

My cameras have been neglected, and I'm not especially happy about that. So, today is the day I embark upon another 365-day photography project. I'm keeping the rules simple and doable: one camera; one lens; capture the light once a day. Perhaps this new endeavor will be what it takes. If anyone wants to join me, feel free! My images and a few words about each will get posted here: http://ruffedgedesign.com/essays/ I'll also put them up on Instagram. Some may find their way to this blog, but I'm hoping that this little exercise will keep the camera in my hands for other shots, too. As my husband often exclaims, "Thanks for playing!"

Time for the Prom

Yesterday was busy and fun. Luke played in a golf tournament (he tied for second), then headed to the site of the evening's homeschool prom to help Bridget and friends decorate. While they were doing that, I was mixing and pre-baking gluten-free pizza crusts. Once Bridget, Luke, and friends (Tally, Abby, Lorelei, and Henry's date Rachel) arrived, I was putting together and baking pizzas, oohing and aahing over hair, makeup, and clothes, and recording as much as I could with a camera or two. After that, it was off to the prom! Lots more photos can be seen at Ruff Edge Design Photography.

Dancing Tulips

When I do pick up my camera, I find it hard to resist turning it to the four-frame, multiple exposure setting. Earlier, I combined these two photos to create an image for a poem I wrote today.

As I was getting these shots of my sweet little imp, she was telling me, "May just keeps getting better and better! First, there's the warm weather, then there's my recital, then there's lessons being finished next week, and now there's spaghetti and meatballs for dinner!"

She Follows Where They Lead

Since Sam and Henry were out playing in the rain, Stella decided she should be there, too.
