By Request

This morning, Stella set up her dolls (and the flower she got from Bridget) and asked me to take a picture.

The kids and I were pleasantly surprised to step outside today and discover lots and lots of leaves to crunch beneath our feet.

Not Quite

Stella's not very good at catching leaves as they fall, but she can certainly pick them up from the ground.

Change of Seasons

Maine can look magnificent in the fall.

Riding Through

Dennis's folks stopped by today.

Thursday, September 25, 2014

Stella has to share the post this week. She and her brothers had some fun with my mini trampoline after I was finished with it today.

Hold Outs

Getting near the end of September with two beautiful roses in bloom is simply lovely.

The Incident

If you're squeamish, do not scroll past the still life shots, as the incident involved a basketball, a baseball bat, and Luke's face.
La, la, la, la ...
OK. Ready?

After at least two hours in the emergency room (thank you, Dennis, for taking him) and some glue, Luke is fine (other than that headache).

Tip Tap

Stella thinks that ballet class is too short, so I let her give tap a try (the class is right after ballet, and most of the girls in ballet take tap, too). Parents sometimes donate shoes their kids have outgrown, and in the FREE box, Stella was able to find a pair of tap shoes that fit. After one class, my girl says she loves tap, so it looks like 40 minutes of dancing for her each week, instead of just 20.

Of His Own Volition

When I came home from a photo jaunt late this afternoon, I found Jack out front, picking up after Caddie. Isn't he thoughtful?

Couldn't Stay Away Long

In the spring, Dennis hacked away at the bittersweet vines growing all over the fence, much of the deck railing, and the into the back porch — cut it down to the ground — but it's back.

Wild Peas

They're growing all over the lilac, hydrangea, and rhododendron out front.

After running away from the camera (into the arms of Henry, my henchman), Stella decided she actually did want her picture taken.

Secret Hiding Place

Stella may or may not have shown me her secret hiding place today, and it may or may not be in the front yard near one of the big trees.

Moved Back In

We finished painting the living room this weekend (it's egg yolk yellow), and set the computer back up yesterday. The kids have been enjoying a few games of Backyard Baseball since then.

He's Eleven

We celebrated Sam's birthday today by going bowling, and all of us had a great time.

Henry in the Kitchen

Henry was inspired to make something sweet today, so he stirred up some vanilla fudge, even creating his own evaporated milk (since we didn't have any on hand). It got a little burnt on the bottom, but we strained most of the dark stuff out, and the fudge was delicious.

Good Save

In today's soccer game (the first of the season), Sam spent about half of his time on the field playing goalie. He made two stops, and his team won.

Hydrangea and Hosta

Stella likes to redecorate the natural world.

Thursday, September 11, 2014

It was cold and rainy at the lake, but Stella didn't mind hanging around for a while, even though her boots were soaked — that happened within the first five minutes of arriving, of course.

Not Too Serious

Luke and I joined Johanna and her mom for another photo shoot. These shots veer towards the goofy side of life.
