Last night, I discovered a flash fiction writing contest, thanks to someone I follow on Twitter. I decided to take on the challenge of writing a 500-word story prompted by a photo of fireworks, but didn't think I'd do it right away. I got an idea for an initial sentence, though, and decided to type it up. Before I knew it, I had the whole thing written and submitted.
