This morning, Bridget and I spent about two hours with Maria, the diabetes nurse educator, learning how to use Bridget's new insulin pump. For the coming week, Bridget will use the pump with saline, continuing to give herself insulin injections. Next Monday, we meet with Maria again, and Bridget will then start using the pump with insulin. We'll have a third class the week after that, and a follow-up four weeks later. Thus far, Bridget likes the pump a lot (the pink color certainly helps), and is already seeing how it will help her better manage her diabetes.
